Hello Fellow Democrats!
It was great to see so many of you at our District Convention in February. Thank you for entrusting me to lead this organization through the 2022 election season! I am excited to begin working together to elect Democrats and increase our outreach across the district.
Credit where credit is due, our county parties and local organizers worked extremely hard in 2021 to make sure we had candidates in almost every election from Local, State, and Federal seats. We did not win all of them, but you all worked very hard to ensure that we saw success in almost every county! My goal is to continue to support the work that you are doing and help us succeed this year and the years after. The mid-term elections are only 19 months away, so we need to be organizing and planning NOW to see success in November 2022.
The first step in this process is getting involved! Our first business meeting will be held over Zoom on March 27 at 10am. I hope you will join us. Business will include discussion and formation of our various committees such as candidate recruitment, outreach, rules & bylaws, and communications. If you are interested in being on any of our committees or volunteering in any way, please make sure to join us at our first meeting.
Another important ongoing issue is the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. This commission will ensure that our district borders are redrawn fairly and equally, without the gerrymandering we have dealt with in the past. The ICRC is meeting regularly, and you can get involved both locally and at the state level. State meeting information is posted on the SOS website, and we will also be discussing local efforts at our next meeting.
I’m excited to get to work with you all, and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.
